DANIELLE TITUS established the lone record in the CAVE SHEPHERD & CO LTD SHORT COURSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP on Day 2 of the competition. Posting 36.29 in the 50 SCM butterfly event she lowered the previous record established by team mate Ashley Weekes in November from 37.70.
At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, the BOA’s Representative Mr David Farmer commended the Barbados Amateur Swimming Association for ensuring that the Championships take place each year and Cave Shepherd & Co Ltd for its continued sponsorship of the event. He noted that success of sports depended significantly on assistance from corporate entities and thanked Cave Shepherd & Co Ltd for its good work.
Mr Farmer, Director of the Olympic Academy also confirmed that the BOA will continue to assist Bradley Ally in his quest for an Olympic medal and will be working with him towards London 2012. Mr Ian Stewart, 2nd Vice President of the Barbados Amateur Swimming Association also commended the swimmers for their outstanding performances on Day 1 and indicated that this tone should continue throughout the championships.
