The 2011 Cave Shepherd & Co Ltd 2011 short course national swimming championships began with a BANG as 5 new records were established on the opening night.

ZABRINA HOLDER made her presence felt in the 100 SCM IM and posted 1:07.38 to set a new mark for the 13-14 girls down from her old record of 1:07.57 in 2007. Not only did Holder set a new age group record she also lowered the women’s open national record and became the nation’s fastest female swimmer in this event since 2007.

The junior end of the pool also made outstanding contributions. DANIELLE TITUS stunned the field in the 200 SCM IM for the 8 & under girls to post 2:55.92 erasing Amara Gibbs old record of 3:07.69 reducing it by 1.77 seconds.

KENDI BYNOE of the 9-10 girls also made her contribution in the 100 SCM Fly rewriting Zabrina Holder’s old record of 1:14.87 to 1:14.75 and DAMON ST PRIX also of the boys’ 9-10 lowered his previous record in the 100 SCM fly from 1:11.59 to 1:10.19.
