Bringing his participation to a close at the XIX Commonwealth Games last night at the SPM AQUATICS COMPLEX, TALKATORA GARDENS, DELHI, INDIA and fulfilling his mission at the Games, Edwards scored another improvement hit in the 200 M breaststroke event. Quoting Nicholas Neckles who accompanied Raymond to the Games:

‘Raymond did another PB this morning he went 2.29.93 in the 200 M. But he picked up a cold 2 days ago for which he had been on antibiotics and after his race he sustained an asthma attack. He was treated by the Indian medical team at the pool, he was put on a nebulizer machine to help him breathe. He was fine after 20mins. He was on course to do 2.26 as he was out in 1.10.36 in the first 100 M’.

19 year old Edwards put in a another sterling performance and again was able to shave 2 seconds off his entry time in the process despite the fact that he was not 100 % physically fit. Performing under 2:30 for the first time we all believe that this is the beginning of great things for him.  Prior to this race his performance in the 50 M breaststroke surpassed all expectations. Swimming in heat 4 lane 1 Edwards narrowly missed the semifinals by two spots. Placing 18th over all from a field of 27 competitors Edwards had a good .69 reaction time off the blocks to post a personal best of 32.26.

We congratulate Raymond and his Coach for a focused, determined and a highly motivated fine performance.
