TWO more records fell by the wayside with the junior end of the pool dominating the 4th day’s proceedings of the CAVE SHEPHERD & CO LTD SHORT COURSE NATIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS at the Aquatic Centre, Wildey.

8 & under swimmer DANIELLE TITUS in the first event of the night ripped home in record time in the 200 SCM freestyle in a time of 2:36.58. She swam 6 seconds faster than Inayah Sherry in 2006 when the record at that time was 2:42.83. Next came DAMON ST PRIX’S turn in the 400 SCM freestyle who outwitted the field to post a time 3 seconds faster than Christian Selby did in 2008 for the boys’ 9-10 stopping the clock at 4:46.53 over Selby’s 4:49.01.

Alex Sobers, Zabrina Holder and Ashley Weekes all had near misses of records in their events. Sobers in the 200 SCM fly finished the race in 2:25.77, twenty three split seconds off of the record. Holder in similar fashion posted a time of 2:20.56 and was 22 split seconds off her record of 2:20.34 posted in 2010. 8 & under swimmer Ashley Weekes posted 43.66 in the 50 SCM breaststroke .47 split seconds off the target time 43.19 established by Deandre Small in 2005.
